The tendency of an image, video, or piece of information to spread rapidly from one Internet user to another; the quality or fact of being viral.

Virality is an intangible feature of certain Web content, which forces Internet users to share videos, images and articles extensively in a short period of time.

Many things that are truly viral-viewed by millions or even billions of times in a short period are kind of stupid.

Take the "Charlie Biting My Finger" video. Since sharing the clip on YouTube in 2007, 530 million people have watched the clip. PSY’s Gangnam Style video has received 1.6 billion views since its release in July 2012. Even Rebecca Black’s low-budget music video received 54 million views in 15 minutes of viral fame.
