Responsive Design

« Back to Glossary Index

With responsive design, each element fluidly adapts to every screen size, rather than spending a lot of money and resources on creating a separate site or scalable app.

With Responsive Web Design (RWD), site content is adjusted by moving and compressing components to fit within the boundaries of desktop, tablet and smartphone screens. RWD sites use the same URL and HTML across platforms, as Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) modify the way content is displayed.

Responsive web design is often seen as a superior solution for smartphone browsers. They are simple solutions for mobile technology rather than creating additional domains and they offer the benefits of SEO.
